I took full responsibility for planning, teaching and assessment of Art, PE, IT and Cooking for year 4-6 children. I taught and supported classes of 10-12 children with complex special educational needs. I managed daily phonic sessions with groups of 10 children. By using a range of techniques including agreed ground rules, praise and reward, agreed time out and merit systems I maintained effective classroom behaviour. I adapted my IT knowledge and skills to problem solve computer issues when required. I co-wrote needs analysis of individual pupils and created tasks which targeted both receptive and productive skills. I managed fine motor skills sessions with small groups and one to one. I contributed to whole school project and topic planning. When not teaching I supported the most complex children within the class and competently ran group work. I managed breakfast club for the children and supported Eco Club after school for groups of up to 15 children to get them involved in the process of food from ground to their plate. I conducted outreach work offsite with 2 SEN children who I supported in mainstream inclusion with the successful outcome of both returning to mainstream full time. I supported year 7-9 pupils in ICT and Science. I worked mainly in the role of teaching assistant but was frequently called upon to teach to cover absence, often involving planning and assessing the lessons with the support of a teaching assistant. I played an active role in transferring the primary department to an inclusion hub within a mainstream school. I helped design and set up interactive learning areas within the new classroom. I introduced and managed sensory circuits to prepare children to engage effectively in the day ahead. I successfully developed and implemented strategies and schemes to aid the childrens’ transition to their new environment and encouraged inclusion through involvement in whole school projects, assemblies and performances.

Grade B 2006-2007Grade A 2006I supported the class teacher in preparing for and conducting the lessons. I was responsible for behaviour management within the classroom. I ran sports workshops for county sports events. I independently ran PSHE nurture groups for the vulnerable children and those that struggled with social interactions. I set up and ran maths workshops for the lowest and highest ability groups of children following Springboard and Wave syllabuses.
