About Mandy Rampling
I am enthusiastic, conscientious and have thorough organisational skills, but more importantly, I am a committed professional who wants to facilitate every child’s potential. This year, I ran the Taqadaam British Council ECA, which has helped pupils develop their own sense of who they are and their 21st century skills. This gives pupils the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, in and out of lessons, allows them to develop themselves as members of the community, develop high self-esteem and confidence and it prepares them for life in a more holistic way. It also allows pupils to challenge themselves to be the best they can be, contribute to a changing world and flourish as individuals. Spending time with pupils outside their subject areas also enables them to build a stronger bond, feel supported and at ease with their surroundings and consequently enable them to fulfil their potential. These beliefs are very similar to the ethos of Girlguiding UK, in which I have been a unit leader for girls aged 7 to 18 for the last thirteen years. I enjoy volunteering in Girlguiding as I love supporting the girls in learning new skills collaboratively, being creative, developing their beliefs and consequently increasing their independence, curiosity and enabling them to discover themselves and pursue their dreams. These values I developed during guiding and are now ideals I use in my teaching. I love injecting a variety of teaching strategies into lessons and celebrate all successes. This encourages pupils to be effective enthusiastic learners and consequently ensures every student achieves his or her academic potential. After online learning in 2020 all pupils have developed their independence, which should continue to be embraced moving forward to ignite pupils creativity and engagement. I have been teaching Science KS3-KS4 for twelve years and Chemistry A-level for seven years. In addition, I was Head of Department at GEMS Al Barsha National School for boys (NSB), in Dubai, which was a school that only had pupils up to year 9 in my first year. My understanding of Excel was developed during my time as a Data Analyst before I started teaching and this experience enabled me to effectively analyse data in order to inform my own teaching, as well as whole year group/Key stage interventions and class setting.
