I have over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. I entered the field as a Medical Assistant providing clinical support for a family physician for four years and then moved into the business office of a busy Sacramento Ambulatory Surgery Center. I streamlined several billing office business processes such as insurance and benefits verifications, aging and coding/billing. While I was working at the Surgery Center, I enrolled in a 16-week coding course and sat for the American Acadamey of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam and obtained my certification. In an effort to broaden my horizons, I joined Hubbert Systems Consulting in 2005 as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). In 2010, I completed the AHIMA ICD-10 Trainer Academy and supported private and public health plans in implementing the new code set in 2015. I am currently working to obtain my Health Information Management degree and endeavor to obtain a Master's degree in Health Informatics. Specialties: My current area of expertise is HIPAA Transactions and Code Sets including ICD-10, and claims billing and adjudication processes.
