My career in IT started way back in 1979 when I worked as a Computer Operator for the University of Cambridge Computing Service. A fun world of huge mainframes (IBM 370) and excitement at the prospect of upgrading the entire service to 1GB (or was it 3GB?). Back in the day it was all tape desks, disk drives and printers the size of a small car. The Computing Service's big claim to fame is that it was the home of the world's first webcam, which broadcast the progress of the coffee machine from the Trojan Room! A vital service to the geeks spread far and wide over the rest of the building.. I continued to work in IT data processing at BT Leeds, then for the Bibby Group as an IT production analyst. Taking a break from IT, I switched to admin roles in the public sector (NHS) for many years. I am now bringing my transferable skills to the exciting world of digital marketing.
