Seashell Communications is a strategic public relations and marketing consultancy and training provider based in the South West but working across the UK and internationally. Council lead for Communications, marketing, engagement, public affairs and public relations. Managing over 30 staff including a team of communications and marketing professionals providing the Council's Corporate Communications as well as teams of providing executive, cabinet and business support.

Sidmouth

I provided strategic communications support to major projects at East Devon District Council including the council's relocation and the local plan as well as managing the day to day running of the communications team.

Exeter

I headed up all communications activity for the City Council including consultation, internal communications, online communications, publicity, public relations and public affairs. This involved managing the Communications Team, advising senior management and councillors and supporting service managers. I managed communications through a major period of development in Exeter including the Quayside, the £280 million rebuild of Princesshay,a major revamp of the High Street and £20 million redevelopment of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum. I was involved in the team that brought the Met Office and John Lewis to Exeter. I also led campaigns for a unitary Exeter, to save the Northcott Theatre and to alter the over 60 bus fare formula.I managed the internal communications to a workforce of nearly 1,000 and external communications to a population of 115,000 including publishing a quarterly award winning newspaper to 48,000 homes. I set up and managed a 1,000 strong citizen's panel alongside qualitative work such as focus groups.I was part of the ICT steering group overseeing all capital expenditure including provision of CRM and CMS systems. I introduced the first CMS driven website in 2003, online consultation in 2004 and social media platforms in 2009. I also served on the Council's equality group ensuring fair provision of services. I trained officers across the Council in media relations and consultation techniques

Lewes

I managed the corporate publicity and marketing for the Council. This included consultation, internal communications, publications and media relations. I advised the senior management team and councillors on communications issues and managed a small team of staff. I worked on a number of major campaigns including bringing Rodin's The Kiss from the Tate back to its home for a summer exhibition. Each year I managed the public relations with worldwide media associated with the Lewes Bonfire event which attracts over 100,000 people.

Crawley

My role involved programming and marketing the range of leisure facilities provided by the council. This included two leisure centres, one arts centre, a swimming pool, running track, a golf course, 12 community centres, seven adventure play facilities and a range of parks. I conducted market research, developed programmes and events and undertook publicity and media work. I also managed a team of casual and temporary staff as well as volunteers providing sports and arts tuition in the community.

Shoreham

I was responsible for organising indoor and outdoor arts and leisure events. I developed new services to meet customer demands and conducted research with over 1,000 customers to determine leisure needs. I designed, wrote and produced brochures, leaflets, adverts and press releases. I managed a range of temporary and casual staff employed in sports and arts tuition.
