About Mandy Roveda
Mandy is a performer, director and educator with a passion for working on new works and creating in surprising spaces. She is also very interested in reimagining theatre teaching methodologies and challenging traditional rehearsal practices. Working cross-culturally abroad and in Canada has given her the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in a myriad of environments and has allowed her to really investigate process. Mandy redefines her practice with each new project. She cares deeply about the people she works with and feels strongly about creating brave spaces for artists to play and bring their full unique selves to the room. Mandy has worked in TV, film, and theatre across Canada, Thailand, Taiwan, and South Korea. She is the co-founding Artistic Director of Taipei Players, the first English Language theatre company in Taipei, and the founder and host of Taipei Story Slam, a live storytelling competition dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling. She is currently the Resident Director and Artistic Associate of The Secret Session: The Movie Experience and has brought to life cult classics such as Ghostbusters, Shaun of the Dead, and The Princess Bride.

Mandy Roveda grew up watching her grandfather play the bagpipes in various Tattoos, Parades and Mass Band competitions. So when the band began offering bagpipe lessons with her grandfather as the teacher she jumped at the opportunity. Mandy is now a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 66 Pipes and Drums band in which she proudly marches alongside her grandfather and sister.Whilst in Asia, Mandy is primarily a solo player available for all events: weddings, parties, funerals, Burns suppers, corporate events, festivals etc. In Taiwan she has played at the Animal’s Taiwan Charity Ball 2011, UK Day 2012, the BCCT St. Andrew’s Ball 2009-2012, the Taipei International Women's Club Luncheon, POW and Remembrance Day events and Spey whisky events around the island.

Taipei Players was formed in 2008 by Canadian actresses Sarah Zittrer and Mandy Roveda. It is the only English Speaking Theatre Company in Taipei and has already met resounding success for its young age. The Players have produced many sold-out shows and have played to young and old audiences alike.
