SHRM Hawaii is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). As VP of Advancing The Profession, my role was to provide leadership to the Workforce Development, Legislative & Government Affairs, and SHRM Foundation & Research committees. From January 2018 - December 2020, I served as the Membership Advisory Council (MAC) representative for SHRM’s Pacific West Region. The MAC serves as the liaison between SHRM members, volunteer leaders, and SHRM’s Board of Directors. The Pacific West (#PacWestIsBest!) region includes: Asia Pacific Council (Guam, Saipan, and the Northern Mariana Islands), Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. As SHRM Hawaii’s Vice President, Serving the Professional, I provided leadership to the committee chairs who at the time, led SHRM Hawaii's 'Support the Professional' initiatives, which include Certification, Membership, Executive Professionals, Young Professionals, SHRM Hawaii's Annual State Conference, and the Educational Foundations on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the big island of Hawaii.Other SHRM Hawaii volunteer leadership roles include President of the SHRM Hawaii Educational Foundation, Maui District and SHRM Hawaii Membership Director (2013 - 2015).

When Destination Residences Hawai’i acquired Classic Resorts on October 1, 2018 I was instrumental in every aspect of the HR transition from due diligence to closing. In addition to adding an acquisition to my HR portfolio of experiences, sixty days later I had the opportunity to do it again and at a much different level and faster pace when Hyatt acquired Two Roads Hospitality! It was an exciting time in my career and I was thrilled to serve on the DRH and Hyatt HR leadership teams where Care and Concern for Colleagues is a driving force of the business and HR Strategies.

Honua Kai Resort & Spa opened in January 2009 and had a strong HR foundation in place when I joined the team. I develop the organizational culture and implement the strategies that enlivened it in the everyday life of associates and became highly visible to guests. As a result of my work, the Honua Kai Resort & Spa brand became one of inclusiveness where Kinaole, E Komo Mai and Malama Pono is part of the fabric of the resort, truly honoring the place, culture, and people of Hawaii. I am honored to have this opportunity to do the organizational development work I love and to live among aloha and `ohana.As a member of the Intrawest HR Leadership Team, I collaborated with innovative and high performing human resources leaders to implement several initiatives, including redesigning performance management and implementing a new applicant tracking system.

Gateway Canyons is one of Colorado's hidden gems and I am proud to have been the resort's first HR professional. In addition to setting the HR foundation, I developed and implemented a strategy to transition the resort from a year-round operation to a seasonal operation that resulted in 90% retention of key employees. My passion for life-long learning and my hospitality HR experience was a perfect fit for this world class resort created by John Hendricks for the curious at heart.

St Julien is a luxury independently owned and operated hotel with 201 guest rooms and a 10,000 sq ft spa. As a member of the executive committee reporting directly to the General Manager I joined the team during the start-up phase and developed the employment culture and HR strategy.

The Lodge at Vail is the cornerstone property of the Vail Valley with 165 diverse and luxurious guest rooms. As a key member of the executive committee reporting directly to the General Manager I was influential in completing the integration of the hotel into the corporate structure of Vail Resorts and it’s hospitality division, RockResorts. As a member of the Vail Resorts Corporate HR Team, I collaborated with innovative and high performing human resources leaders to provide integrated HR tactics and strategy for this company of over 10,000 employees.

HCHRA is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). As president I increased membership by 25% and developed a succession plan to enable this non-profit organization to thrive in succeeding years. Served as President for 3 years (2002 - 2004).
