www.manikarami.comI am a Design Professional at Dewberry, a top 40 nationally recognized engineering, architecture, and consulting firm. I have graduated from a top-tier university with experience in Design and construction. My education and experience have molded my commitment to ‘research through making’ as a critical component in the architectural design process. During my experience in the companies I have worked at, I principally engaged in selecting and applying materials at a residential and commercial scale. Building from modernist principles of spatial proportion and material efficiency, my accomplishments in this effort resulted from extensive, focused research and an ability to solve obstinate problems from every angle with the help of my peers. Most importantly, I learned to bridge the connection between the mind and the hand and leverage the dichotomy between design as an intellectual activity and a material pursuit. This method of making allows me to intuitively respond to challenging design problems in a way that induces risk-taking, inviting me to embrace complexity and avoid singularity. My Master's Research Project is about Kinetic Architecture and Algal Biofuel. Biokinetics is a project that utilizes kinetic design to optimize algae growth in a photobioreactor facade system. I was teaching Intro and Advanced topics of Digital Architecture and Building information modeling(BIM) as a Graduate teaching assistant at the University of Florida for two years before graduating. I hold a Master's degree in architecture (GPA 4.0) and a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from UF (summa cum laude, GPA 3.83). I am a travel enthusiast and have tried to comprehend the main origins of modern-day architecture in different countries around the world and to be exposed to different cultures in the past few years.My experience has given me a strong foundation in the fundamentals of architecture. It is critical to me that I grow my understanding of the value of asking questions and listening to those with a wealth of experience in the industry.
