Steering the in-country project preparation and implementation financed by KfW Development Bank in the Climate Resilient Sustainable Urban Development sector on behalf of German Government in Bangladesh with a portfolio size of approximately 300 million euros. More specifically, - Establish and continue close relations with all cooperation partners i.e. multilateral, bilateral development organization, government ministries and department, city corporations and municipal towns on the working and the management level on Climate Resilient Sustainable Urban Development sector- Supporting headquarter in preparing, administering, and monitoring of ongoing different phase of Climate Change Adapted Urban Development Programme (CCAUDP)- Act as a bridge between Project Executing Agencies and KfW headquarter in the capacity of aligning application procedures, rules, and regulations at both end - Contribute KfW appraisal and review mission as an urban development expert - Analyze contemporary urban sector developments in Bangladesh with an aim to identify and prepare project ideas in Climate Resilient Sustainable Urban Development sector in consultation with KfW headquarter- Represent KfW in different platform and support German Embassy in Dhaka in the area of expertise

Managing the Urban Development Portfolio of KFW Development Bank Bangladesh country operation

Leading the urban DRR and Climate Change portfolio of the organization. Is responsible to deliver high quality program that support and engage adolescent & youth particularly girls become strong activist to make the cities resilient & safe. Also designed projects taken into account multiple hazards of urban cites and envision to tackle gender inequality in the urban.

Under the umbrella of ADB funded Urban Climate Change Trust Fund (UCCRTF), steering the resilience building support to secondary cities along with knowledge management of resilient stories across five municipalities of Bangladesh.

Lea a team of senior project and programme managers and overseeing the operational delivery of the programme under this portfolio with close collaboration with the strategy team. The Dhaka & Country Portfolio Manager is the strategic geographic lead for programming in Dhaka and managing up to 4 to 5 large programmes with a national and multi-location reach. Also responsible for coordinating and holding a leadership role in the development and implementation of a coherent and quality programme portfolio spanning multiple programmatic disciplines.

• Formulate Ward (lowest tier of Urban Local Government) level Urban Risk Assessment (URA) plan and Risk Reduction Action Plan (RRAP) for Dhaka South City Corporation.• Advocacy with Dhaka South City Corporation towards allocating resources in their Annual Development Plan based on the findings of Urban Risk Assessment. • Liaison with local level private sectors to develop resource plan towards implementation of Risk Reduction Action Plan at Dhaka South City Corporation.• Assist Dhaka South City Corporation to develop Contingency Plan with regards to urban disasters (Earthquake, Fire, Water Logging etc.).• Develop concept of multipurpose utilization of open spaces/park for urban citizens during any urban crisis by following planning standards.• Present planning proposals to policy makers and government officials. • Collaborate with Urban Development Directorate (UDD), Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR), House Building and Research Institute (HBRI), Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence towards increasing institutional capacity to operationalise inclusive policy and frameworks in development planning.• Analyze demographic and socio-economic data of Dhaka South City Corporation for developing a knowledge management mechanisms to improve co-ordination and response capacity amongst relevant stakeholders. • Collaborate with architects, environmental and land use experts to develop strategies, plans and programmes toward enhancing urban resilience at Dhaka South City Corporation area in accordance with Dhaka Metropolitan Development Plan 2016 -2035 and present the strategies, plans and programmes to relevant government stakeholders.• Develop strategy to incorporate government hospitals and government primary schools into comprehensive urban resilience building process.• Prepare narrative and financial project report for government and development partners on regular basis

I led the advocacy efforts of “Shifting the Power” initiative with 11 partner organization at Christian Aid both in terms of implementation and monitoring. It is DFID funded Start Network Global consortium projects that aspires not only promoting the role and voice of local/national organizations in current humanitarian architecture but also creates a system so that local actors can take place alongside international humanitarian actors in humanitarian actions with appropriate knowledge, skill and capacity. One of the most significant contribution of my employment at Christian Aid is facilitating the formation and institutionalization of NAHAB (National Alliance of Humanitarian Actors, Bangladesh). It is a platform for the local/national humanitarian actors to uphold their voice and issues towards localization through working together. It is a milestone in the era of grand bargain and localization, where local organization are getting increasing attention in terms of resource mobilization and local level decision making. Besides, I led an entire team of 17 people in Netrokona district to conduct Coordinated Needs Assessment (CNA) during recent Haor flash flood under the banner of NAHAB. This heterogeneous group was able to completed the quality assessment that has been used for further decision making. As part of the advocacy endeavour, I managed Power Café, a common space for humanitarian actors to discuss the relevant humanitarian, DRR and CCA issues towards effective decision making. Another significant initiative that I am leading is the commencement of POWER (Power Of Women in Emergency Response) awards. In collaboration with Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief It is in the process of mainstreaming to recognize the role and contribution of women in DRR, CCA and humanitarian sector.

• Assisted multiple urban local governments specifically municipalities to develop their Strategic Physical Master Plan taking into account the contemporary development trend and changes in the planning laws and regulation and strategic national plans of Bangladesh Government.• Collected and analyzed socio-economic, cultural, political and demographic information of municipalities in Bangladesh to utilize during development of Physical Master Plan.• Reviewed and summarized the exiting planning documents toward identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.• Worked closely with urban local governments (City Corporation and Municipality) to mobilize resources of implementing their developed Physical Master Plan.• Presented prepared Physical Master Plan to wider audience (local government, community and experts like engineers, architect and planners) • Collaborated with Dhaka North City Corporation, Dhaka South City Corporation and other small municipalities to integrate basic services plans (utility, health, education etc.) for underprivileged urban dwellers into the developed Physical Master Plan.• With a joint effort of BRAC and Dhaka North City Corporation, conceptualized and steered “Urban Innovation Challenge” by harnessing the potential of young minds to find simple but frugal solution for improving living standard in urban areas of Bangladesh.• Liaised and maintained functional partnership with Urban Development Directorate (UDD), Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP), Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) towards developing joint action plan for policy level advocacy i.e. ensuring the implementation of zoning regulation, enforcement of Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) and endorsement of Urban Sector Policy etc. • Developed GIS (Geographical Information System) based “Decision Support System” for urban managers

• Supervised and carried out physical feature survey, land use survey, contour survey, traffic network survey and utility service mapping through GPS (Global Positioning System) in the intervention districts and sub-districts areas and prepared map with right kind of projection system through Arc GIS;• Compiled and analyzed the above survey information towards presenting findings in narrative and graphical form to wide range of stakeholders including government authorities and relevant subject experts;• Prepared Digital Elevation Model (DEM) through GIS for developing drainage and utility service plan;• Examined the demographic, socio-economic, morphological and environmental information to comprehend the dynamics affecting existing land use; • Digitized Mouza Maps (lowest tier of land administration area) through Arc GIS, Arc View and preparing coverage of digitized map through Arc Info;• Provided technical support to other Development Plan preparation team to conduct various GIS analysis like spatial analysis, geo-referencing, projection, overlay etc. through Arc GIS; • Tracked and Monitored the progress of development plan preparation in collaboration with Local Government Engineering Department, Government of Bangladesh;• With the manifestation of alternative development scenario, prepared Strategic Development Plan (Master Plan) Proposal and resource plan, considering contemporary planning standard for intervention districts and sub-districts; • Presented the Development Plan (Master Plan) Proposal to different government authorities and mass urban dwellers through public hearing towards incorporating their feedbacks; • Prepared interim and annual narrative report with graphical illustration including proposed land use map, utility map, traffic network map, drainage network map etc. for government authorities; and • Supported government authorities to solve development planning disputes among different service providers and citizens.
