It is DFID funded Start Network Global consortium projects that aspires not only promoting the role and voice of local/national organizations in current humanitarian architecture but also creates a system so that local actors can take place alongside international humanitarian actors in humanitarian actions with appropriate knowledge, skill and capacity. One of the most significant contribution of my employment at Christian Aid is facilitating the formation and institutionalization of NAHAB (National Alliance of Humanitarian Actors, Bangladesh). It is a platform for the local/national humanitarian actors to uphold their voice and issues towards localization through working together. It is a milestone in the era of grand bargain and localization, where local organization are getting increasing attention in terms of resource mobilization and local level decision making. Besides, I led an entire team of 17 people in Netrokona district to conduct Coordinated Needs Assessment (CNA) during recent Haor flash flood under the banner of NAHAB. This heterogeneous group was able to completed the quality assessment that has been used for further decision making. As part of the advocacy endeavour, I managed Power Café, a common space for humanitarian actors to discuss the relevant humanitarian, DRR and CCA issues towards effective decision making. Another significant initiative that I am leading is the commencement of POWER (Power Of Women in Emergency Response) awards. In collaboration with Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief It is in the process of mainstreaming to recognize the role and contribution of women in DRR, CCA and humanitarian sector.
