Interests and aspirations-I carry out research in the areas of AI and networked systems with a focus on environmental monitoring and health applications. My prime areas of interest include applied machine learning techniques for sense-making from multimodal data streams, data management in IoT and distributed edge AI. I have experience in sensor deployments and real-world data collection studies and am interested in various smart cities/buildings and digital health applications. Research and academia experience:I lead the SUST.AI.N research lab and work on digital technologies for social good addressing problems related to environmental sustainability, health and well-being. Also, worked on 2 internally funded BITS projects as PI, 1 externally funded projects as PI and 2 externally funded projects as Co-PI in research themes related to IoT and Data Science.In the past, I have been the Principal Investigator on a H2020 EU project "SocialTruth" and Co-Investigator on an Innovate UK funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership “Smart Ear protectioN in noiSy Environments” during my academic job at LSBU.I have worked as a postdoc on an Innovate UK research project related to Energy reduction in built environments using advanced data analytics on Building energy management systems (BEMS) data streams. I have also worked as a postdoc on an EPSRC-funded research project related to wheelchair accessibility at UCL and my role involved instrumenting the wheelchairs with smartphone and bespoke sensor devices to collect data and analyse the same for accessible way-finding for wheelchair users. Prior to that, I worked on developing energy-efficient, adaptive sampling algorithms for urban street air pollution monitoring as a part of my Ph.D. Industry experience:In the past, I have worked for various telecom software organizations in India and have a seven plus years of strong experience in various telecom technologies (3G wireless, SDH and VoIP) and products(RNC, SDH CPE, Application server and ADSL modems/VoIP Gateways). During my industry career, I gained a deep understanding of the end to end telecom network architecture and exposure to complete telecom software product development life cycle, with expertise in protocol engineering and embedded software development.
