Manish Shah is the owner and operator of the Maya Tea Company. He frequently teaches at tradeshows and seminars about tea topics from marketing to health benefits. Over his lifetime in the tea industry, Manish has created a variety of new products all focused on tea.In the early 1990’s, Manish began to notice a rise in the popularity of chai tea, a drink traditionally served in India. This prompted the young entrepreneur to re-develop his mother's chai recipe, which he began to sell at a small booth at a local farmers’ market in late 1996. Maya Tea Company was born.As the years progressed, the tea company blossomed and the farmers’ market grew exponentially. In 2002 Manish was asked to take over the management of the farmers’ market, eventually transitioning it to non-profit to supper the community. Today, Manish spends most of his time at the tea company but continues to support the Heirloom Farmers Market as a board member. Currently, Manish and the Maya Tea team are working on a series of tea-derived concentrates focused on health, flavor, and feeling good. As always, he has something brewing.
