Studied Azure Cloud services, AI, and data programming, attended workshops on state-of-the-art technology and research, developed a capstone project as a part of a 5-member team. Participated in a panel discussion addressing visually challenged students about career and university opportunities. Won the award for best business solution in the capstone project presentations.

Used Python to develop a role-playing game for children suffering from cancer.

Working on text-simplification and I-Scribe projects. Using python and support libraries (such as NLTK) to create a program that can simplify complex sentences by dividing long sentences into shorter ones, deleting unnecessary information and replacing harder words with simpler ones for the benefit of those with dyslexia and/or autism. The I-Scribe project aims to create a smart-scribe that provides a consistent and convenient exam experience for visually impaired users.

I interned at IIT Delhi under professor M. Balakrishnan (Deputy Director of Strategy and Planning), worked to develop a platform that would enable blind users and otherwise to draw accessible geometric diagrams (as a part of the RAVI-Reading Assistant for Visually Impaired-project).I worked to create a python library that generates SVG code and takes care of pixels and trigonometric calculations, making it easier to draw without the user thinking about what is 10CM multiplied by cos 37, what pixel to draw from and what pixel to draw to. Primary or middle school students can draw simple shapes easily, and as their curriculum progresses, they can simply enter more information and it will be handled. The idea was to keep the language instinctive, so that students don't have to spend hours learning it.I worked alongside researchers and PhD scholars, understanding the challenges that developers and users face. I got the opportunity to expand my imagination, as every day was a new challenge, and an effective as well as a simple solution was sought. I learnt about the developments and findings of other researchers working on similar issues, such as making the environment more inclusive for people with not only visual impairment but also for people with hearing impairment or physical disabilities. I got the opportunity to interact and work with researchers from across the world.I helped organize and attended Empower 2019, an event organized by IIT where various organizations, individuals, companies etc come together to showcase the accessibilities solutions they have developed or are working on and ideas and suggestions to work on in the future.

I held the post of Editor for 2 consecutive years at school. Maintained the school webzine and annual magazine, encouraged students to write and participate in writing competitions, edited their articles and/or poems, organized and judged middleschool creative writing competitions and conducted interviews. Helped organize events such as the CanKids show, an event for children suffering from cancer.

Mentored 40 middleschool students for science fest. Helped them understand concepts, topics, helped them make projects, models and presentations.

Taught maths and science to class VI-X students on a multi-grade platform. Helped students understand concepts and solved their doubts. Held discussions about various theorems and proofs and tried to prove them practically before accepting them as true.

Worked at the Student Learning Hub at UBC tutoring students for courses in computer science, statistics, psychology, economics and math. Tutored roughly 10-12 students each week, helping solidify concepts, solving their doubts, guiding them through assignments and helping students prepare for exams.

We pivoted from the work study topic towards another one in response to recent research literature. We conducted a study with low vision/visuallyimpaired/blind participants to gain a deeper understanding of privacy in images captured by the BVI community for sighted help, and how they would like to preserve the same using image sanitization techniques such as blurring, masking and content-based filling.

Worked part-time as a work study research assistant toDr. Khalad Hasanof UBCO. Used python and supporting libraries to develop a small, wearable device for the visually impaired that could identify objects, text and gestures to becontrolled without physical, hardware-based controls.
