About Manjunath Doddavenkatappa

Born and brought up in a farmer's family, schooling was in vernacular medium (Kannada), and a boy who walked mostly barefoot until he entered the college.Despite all the odds and by God's grace, I could graduate with a PhD degree in computer science from the National University of Singapore, one of the top schools for computer science, with significant achievements: (1) built and maintained Indriya, one of the most popular testbeds in the world for Internet of Things (IoT), which has users from more 200+ universities worldwide; (2) as a part of my PhD thesis, which was nominated for the best thesis award, I developed IoT protocols that outperform the existing systems by a large margin, and these works are published in the premier conferences: NSDI, IPSN, and RTSS; and (3) joined SmartGrow/HomeGrw, an aquaponics startup where I went back to my roots of farming but over water and fish. In addition to growing vegetables, I designed and implemented Smartgrow's software and hardware platforms.
