•I have gained hands-on experience in querying and extracting data from various systems and databases using SQL, as well as performing data cleaning and wrangling to ensure data accuracy and reliability.•My internship focused on a Mining company, a prominent client of ThinkNEXT. For this client, I developed a Power BI dashboard that allowed to monitor Environmental Health and Safety.Here's how sustainability and energy conservation concepts were addressed.Reducing Energy Consumption:One of the critical aspects of the mining industry's sustainability efforts is reducing energy consumption, as mining operations are often energy-intensive. In the Power BI dashboard I designed, we included real-time energy consumption data for different operational areas within the mining site. This allowed the company to identify energy-intensive processes and take proactive measures to optimize energy use. By doing so, the mining company could reduce its carbon footprint and energy costs, aligning with sustainability goals.Monitoring Environmental Impact:Sustainability in mining involves minimizing the environmental impact of operations. The dashboard I developed included key environmental metrics, such as emissions data and water usage statistics. This allowed the mining company to closely monitor their environmental performance and make data-driven decisions to reduce their environmental footprint. For instance, they could identify areas where water recycling and reuse could be implemented, conserving this precious resource.Safety and Social Responsibility:Sustainability extends beyond the environmental aspects. It also encompasses safety and social responsibility. In the dashboard, I integrated safety incident data, helping the mining company track and mitigate safety risks. By enhancing safety measures, the company not only improved the well-being of its workforce but also demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility, a crucial element of sustainability.
