My main assignment is to design UVAC of Boston Metro's Red Line #3 overhauled units on the same lines as I accomplished on new manufacture Blue Line #5,15 years ago.

Designing electrical systems of Diesel Electric locomotives.

Provided engineering support to Production for two projects:i) Up-gradation of HVAC unit refrigerant from R-22 to R-410A for rail car of California Transit (CALTRANS) project; andii) Manufacture of new HVAC units for AMTRAK cars to be built at CAF Newyork State.

1. Designed HVAC system for Tram cars of Prague (Czech Republic). The cars were built by Skoda and HVAC was supplied by Janka Engineering (an associate company of Lloyd Electric & Engineering).2. Design & Development of HVAC systems for Metro cars of Indian Metro Rail Authorities suitable for Metro cars of Kolkata and Bangalore.

Completed electrical Design of MARC IIB cars under overhauling and upgradation. Updated the HVAC control design by adding PLC, updated lighting design and added disaster lighting based on LEDs and storage capacitors instead of batteries. Modified cab control circuits to provide battery bypass during HEP failures.

In-charge of Siemens' Blue Line #5 car project for MBTA Boston.Updated Siemens (Germany)'s design to suit local (USA) conditions and standards. Designed the HVAC controls using PLC, with excellent diagnostic, auto-correction and data logging features.

Marketing and design work of HVAC units and control panels for rail cars. The job included study of customer specification and preparation of new proposals.Introduced new service business of day-to-day maintenance of HVAC units of rail cars in railway yards.Helped Sidhwal to maintain market leadership in railway HVAC.

Marketing and design work of HVAC units and control panels for rail cars. Studied field problems of roof mounted package units (RMPU) and upgraded the design. Got the RMPU tested and passed for Vibration test at Aeronautic Laboreatory, Bangalore. Obtained RDSO approval for RMPU.

Marketing of electrical and HVAC equipment for railways. Developed new high speed pantograph for 160 km/h with Faiveley france.Enabled Stone India to obtain leadership in rail car alternators with V-belt drive from the coach axle.

Overall in-charge of electrical works and operations. Member of the initial team of 5 officers who set up Diesel-Loco Modernization Works. Designed and set up the most modern Traction motor re-manufacturing shop. Set up 66 kV power receiving station, 66 kV / 11 kV sub-station and several 11 kV / 440 V sub-stations. Design and laid out power supply network, lighting and HVAC for the workshop, administrative buildings and staff colonies.

The job included, evolving electrical standards for rail cars and design and trouble shooting work. Responsible for developing and introducing V-belt drive (idea taken from SNCF France) for railway coaches which replaced expensive hypoid gear for air-conditioned coaches and troublesome flat-belt drive for ordinary coaches. The V-belt drive is now used on several thousand coaches of Indian Railways. Also member of the team responsible for developing alternators and electronic regulators for rail cars repalcing dc dynamos.
