At Exbiblio, we are working to transform the way readers interact with the written word by making printed text richly interactive, and by building knowledge and communities around books, magazines, newspapers, and other printed publications.At Exbiblio, Claes-Fredrik has written some 400K lines of code, including speech recognition prototypes, extensive image processing, visualization and testing tools, 3 versions (eCos-based, Linux-based, and proprietary) of the embedded text-capture system for the Exbiblio Qi hardware, Android and iPhone text capture applications, indexing and search tools, desktop productivity tools, text editor integrations, and the beginnings of a novel OCR solution.Claes-Fredrik also managed a team of developers working on the Exbiblio system, managed the IP portfolio, and created and managed a novel IP initiative, capturing over 300 inventions, 27 of which have been filed, many of them his own, as well as managing a $1MM/year budget.

• Led the creation of various components, one of which resulted in an IBM patent application.• Increased internal productivity by evangelizing and enabling tool use, and by creating tools.• Enabled CEO-level business decisions through internal metrics and investigations, e.g. showing a 5-orders-of-magnitude improvement over earlier performance benchmarks, and creating a predictive XDE backend performance calculus as a by-product.• Implemented and enhanced tricky or previously bungled features, such as an inheritance graph overview generator that had serious performance problems, achieving O(n) performance, doubling the performance of report generation, and speeding up model conversion 6 times, compared to baselines.• Led architectural and code reviews of XDE and its components, achieving much needed information exchange and opening up communication channels among the widely distributed team of roughly 400 engineers, enabling remote teams to deliver quality features on time.

• Designed and created the support for Use Case and Activity diagrams, the major new features in Rose 4.0 and 98.• Envisioned and created the now ubiquitous Stereotype support in Rose, empowering end-users to customize its metamodel and diagrams, thus greatly broadening its market and its third-party tool ecosystem.

• Designed and implemented the Rich Text Format support in Objectory SE (Support Environment) and BE (Business Engineering), re-architecting much of the graphical and textual subsystems in order to support combining graphics and text in the existing and new formats involved, enabling integrations with Microsoft Word.• Added support for icons in Objectory’s hypertext, on-screen and for all output formats.• Led a usability investigation and project plan, and systematically addressed the worst problems.• Maintained the highly complex, TeX-based printing and SGML subsystems in Objectory SE.• Created the Problem Report Browser, a graphical email client that allows users to email and visually manage stack traces and scenario descriptions, greatly improving the problem-reporting process.• Created an icon editor for internal development, enhancing developer productivity.• Created a simple PostScript interpreter to display the Objectory logo in a scalable fashion in Objectory SE.
