With over 39 years of experience as a Carpenter Union Member and working for Kiewit, coupled with my role as an Executive Board Member for the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council, I have gained a deep understanding of the challenges faced by construction workers. This extensive background has not only honed my technical skills but has also cultivated a strong sense of empathy towards my fellow workers. In particular, my involvement in the development and implementation of the Safety Anchor Post System has allowed me to utilize my soft skills to promote safety and well-being within the construction industry.Throughout my career, I have witnessed firsthand the physical demands and risks associated with working in construction. From working at great heights to handling heavy machinery, construction workers face numerous hazards on a daily basis. These experiences have instilled in me a profound appreciation for the importance of safety measures and protocols.As an Executive Board Member for the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council, I have actively participated in shaping policies and initiatives that prioritize worker safety. This role has provided me with a platform to advocate for improved safety standards, ensuring that workers are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to carry out their tasks safely.One significant contribution to worker safety that I am particularly proud of is my involvement in the development and implementation of the Safety Anchor Post System. This innovative system provides a secure anchoring solution for workers operating at heights, minimizing the risk of falls and accidents. By utilizing my soft skills, such as empathy and effective communication, I have been able to promote the adoption of this system among construction companies and workers.Empathy plays a crucial role in understanding the needs and concerns of construction workers. By actively listening to their experiences and challenges, I have been able to identify areas where improvements can be made to enhance their safety and well-being.
