About Manny Romero

Starting and running my own specialist Industrial Communications over a period of 8 years, I got to experience first-hand the impact "disruptive technology" can have, with the introduction of COTS Ethernet to the industrial automation landscape. I didn't think I would see another paradigm shift in the field of Industrial Automation,.. then along comes "The IoT" or Internet of Things - AKA - Industry 4.0 or as GE Call It The Industrial Internet. Not that long ago, Ethernet was relegated to the office and IT depts. It's move to the factory floor was unstoppable. The most valuable lesson I learnt was seeing how disruptive technologies create opportunity & equity, for those that have insight, E.g. RugeddCom, Moxa, Hirschmann, Westermo & Mobotix. These organizations saw the opportunities, had a product vision and reaped the rewards. The advent of the Industrial IoT (Internet of Things) or what the Europeans refer to as Industry 4.0, will create even larger opportunities. It will be very interesting to see just who and what comes out of left field with the new killer app or product in this space. So, I'm really excited to again be directly involved at the start of a Paradigm Shift. Just like Ethernet, IoT will also draw technologies from the consumer/commercial world to Industrial world. LP-WAN, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0 (AKA BLE ), 3G & 4G Cellular, NB-IoT, M2M, IPv6, Cloud Services, Apps, Big Data, & Analytics, will form the building blocks to create the Industrial IoT. I’ve enjoyed a wide range of roles in international sales and marketing, based out of Europe, Asia and the Americas, introducing and managing new projects, product and solutions. I also started, grew and sold a technology business. I thrive on pioneering the adoption of niche technologies by mentoring, educating and creating brand loyalty. I’ve enjoyed success with products such as the HART Multiplexer, Intrinsically Safe instrumentation, IP CCTV, DCS I/O, & Industrial Cellular Routers.
