I am a materials science and engineering graduate with early-career research experience in carbon materials, multifunctional materials, composites, and nanomaterials.> Conceptualized the use of lampblack (a novel, plant-derived form of carbon black) as a low-cost, material-based supercapacitor electrode. The idea was selected among the final 20 out of the initial 100 at Innovation in Manufacturing Practices 2017, a flagship event of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.> Did an elaborate scrutiny of carbon black, activated carbon, and graphene for electrochemical applications in master's term papers.>Master's capstone centered on enhancing the porosity and hydrophobicity of the carbon black in the catalyst support of PEM fuel cells toward addressing the water management issue, decreasing the Pt loading, and improving the electrochemical performance.> Worked with doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at UCLA on processing resorcinol–formaldehyde gel into mesoporous carbon for electrode and catalyst applications.> Presently conducting independent research on waste-derived carbon-based material "lampblack" and customizing it into multifunctional composites: optical (absorptive filters), thermal (heat absorbers), electronic (electrodes and antennas), and electrochemical (anti-corrosion, battery, supercapacitor, and fuel cell) applications.> Formulated novel graphene-based paints customized for space applications toward two ISRO-funded projects: (1) an electrically conductive coating on a polyimide film without any metal or conductive binder and (2) a thermal-resistant coating onto CFRP-based modules for withstanding 400–500 °C in an open environment.> Experimental testing of novel solvent-based synthesis of graphene from graphitizing carbons.> Obtained prima facie findings on deriving carbon quantum dots from plant twig charcoals.> In-principle testing of carbon–metal oxide composites as electrodes for biomethane production.> Developing thin-film, lightweight carbon electrodes that can potentially be scaled to functionally replace the standard metal-based electrodes in biomedical applications.> Research output throughout my academic journey: 5 publications, 3 granted Indian patents, 2 manuscripts under review, 10 filed Indian patent applications, 2 technical posters at international research events, and 2 project demonstrations at national research events.
