The Fulbright Center is a bi-national non-profit organization which promotes mutual understanding between Dutch and American citizens through educational exchange. I work with Dutch students, their parents, and Dutch and American educational institutions. In addition to coordinating the Campus Scholarship Program for talented vwo students, I work as an adviser for EducationUSA. EducationUSA is a U.S. Department of State network of over 425 international student advising centers in more than 175 countries. The network promotes U.S. higher education to students around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive, and current information about opportunities to study at accredited postsecondary institutions in the United States. EducationUSA also provides services to the U.S. higher education community to help institutional leaders meet their recruitment and campus internationalization goals.

As a program officer, I have been responsible for the Campus Scholarship Program and the Teacher Exchange Program to Massachusetts. The Campus Scholarship Program is a selective program that enables talented high school (vwo) students to study one year in the United States with a scholarship from the university. I work with students, their parents, Dutch schools and American universities to guide students through the admissions process and prepare them for a successful academic year at an American university. The Teacher Exchange Program was a three-year pilot program funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and organized by the Fulbright Center in collaboration with Nuffic and the Institute for Training and Development (ITD) in Massachusetts. As a Program Officer I was the contact person for our partner organizations and responsible for program development, the selection of candidates, the pre-departure orientation session, evaluation surveys and evaluation reports.

As a Test Center Administrator I was responsible for the daily management of the test center, which administered various admission tests for American universities and institutions, including the TOEFL, GRE and USMLE.

In this position, I co-organized the event Fulbright@65. This event, which celebrated 65 years of the Fulbright Program in the Netherlands, took place at the American embassy in June 2015. I also wrote the book 'in Amerika heb ik ruim leren denken,' for which I interviewed 38 alumni of the Fulbright Program and Campus Scholarship Program to capture the research and experiences of the Fulbright Center's alumni since 1949.
