I am a recent graduate in biochemistry and molecular biology with experience in analytical methods to study molecules and biochemical processes. I would eventually like to pursue a career in medicine.I was volunteering at a dental outreach, initially I was just the photographer so not much patient interaction involved. They ended up needing an extra hand with the dental x-rays and my limited knowledge of Spanish was enough to translate for the Spanish-speaking patients. As much as I enjoy photography, it was during my time interacting with the patients that I found most rewarding. Even though we were limited to providing only dental care, I realized I want to help provide healthcare to those who do not have the privilege. My decision for a career in medicine had been decided, but it wasn't until the recent passing of my grandma that I was set on becoming a doctor. She was half-way across the world, there was not much my family or I could have done to help. I couldn't help my grandmother, but I can help others.
