Together we strived for bringing new automotive products to the market that support both combustion, hybrid and electrical vehicles. The products are highly integrated driveline systems containing traditional mechanical components as well as electronics and software. The automotive industry is undergoing a fundamental change focusing on electrification and autonomous vehicles. The increased software content of the products results in new development methods as well as new process requirements for quality assurance.Achievements: Integrated the Beijing team into the global organization and helped transfer knowledge to the team to build BorgWarner’s capabilities in China. I achieved this by strengthening the local leadership and using my belief that every person has a will to do more and learn. For many years the philosophy was that by training and transferring processes and work methods from other teams the capability could be built. I switched this around and let the Beijing team define what they needed to learn and when, helping them create and own their own development plan. This resulted in a pull of knowhow from the team in Beijing, not a push, and we were able to within 3 months transfer the ownership of the first two projects to Beijing. Show less

Responsible for global alignment and continues improvements of work processes and routines for the department.Responsible for the intellectual property and patents for the European development site, including strategies and yearly reviews. Achievements: I established myself as a leader of a global team and created an organization that supported regional accountability. I did this by living 6 months in the US starting to get to know my new NA team, understanding the differences in culture, expectations and structure. One of my core beliefs is that to be able to drive accountability you need to give authority, setting the team up so they have all the tools and resources to succeed by them self, supported by a clear structure. I implemented regional managers to create ownership and focus on execution of the projects in day to day operations. I continued driving the more long-term strategies around processes, methods and tools, creating a solid foundation for the teams. Show less
