Research AssociateLancaster University Oct 2018 - Apr 2020Lancaster, United Kingdom- Contributed to the development of improved algorithms for the modelling and control of robots with unknown and non-stationary dynamics.- Implemented and evaluated new algorithms using relevant robotic systems in a laboratory setting, including a hydraulic dual-manipulator BROKK system.- Researched the complex manipulation capabilities required for robots in the nuclear industry e.g. waste handling and cell decommissioning, for which the robot must forcefully interact with objects and the environment (e.g. pushing, shearing and cutting). -
Project Development EngineerHybrid Instruments Limited Jul 2018 - Mar 2020Lancaster, United Kingdom- Developed software and hardware for a fast-neutron tomography system. A prototype was tested at the National Physics Laboratory in the UK. The prototype is currently TRL 4.- Participated in the development of a passive cooling solution for an existing product. Participated in the development of a Tritium measurement system for the nuclear industry. -
General ManagerCentre For Engineering And Industrial Development Mar 2009 - Aug 2017Querétaro Area, MexicoThe Centre for Engineering and Industrial Development (CIDESI) is a public research centre that contributes to the development of both public and private sectors in Mexico with effective research and innovation projects. CIDESI offers 4 graduate programmes, and is one of the top research centres in Mexico.- Designed an inertial navigation system for pipeline inspection gauges (PIG) used by the Mexican oil industry. PEMEX (Mexican Petroleum) appointed CIDESI to accomplish the first PIG made in Mexico. This PIG will serve as part of PEMEX’s own infrastructure resulting in considerable savings in contractor charges.- Planned and developed autonomous drones for identification and geo-positioning of obstacles in airports. Developed an OLS (Obstacle Limitation Surfaces) monitoring system for airports. These technologies are being used by a number of airports in Mexico that require the application of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations.- Taught several subjects in two graduate programmes at CIDESI. Twelve MSc students and a PhD student graduated under my supervision. Most of my students found respected jobs or are entrepreneurs.- Trained clients on the usage of transferred technology. A number of jobs were created and the new staff received training and are currently operating the acquired technology for their organisation.
