I am Assistant Professor and Director of Community Engagement and Behavioral Research in the Section of Adolescent Medicine.

Provide a broad range of research support consulting services, including but not limited to: statistical analysis, research study design, recruitment efforts, grant-writing and program evaluation.

• Manage the young worker outreach component of an NIH R01 funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), which includes: development of a study website and attendance at college and worker events to disseminate findings to young workers; oversee the production of and first-author a monograph on the health and well-being of the young US worker utilizing nationally-representative data; collaborate with an undergraduate public relations class in developing a marketing campaign project revolving around young worker research.• Oversee budgets and prepare annual progress reports for six projects totaling almost $4 million in grant funding. • Supervise 3 Research Assistants for a preventive research study on ocular screening among diabetics in a high risk, vulnerable population in Miami. • Perform statistical analyses utilizing various software packages. • Supervise 4 community health workers on a peer group-based smoking cessation project in a high-risk community.• Prepare and write first-authored publications for peer-review and present findings at professional conferences.• Supervise and assign tasks to a student worker on a telephone-based research study of Florida residents estimate state-representative prevalence of self-reported and biologically-confirmed tobacco exposure.• Perform basic administrative tasks, including designing posters for conferences, recording minutes, distributing study materials, completing expense reports, scheduling and organizing events and meetings, ordering supplies and other duties as assigned.• Act as liaison to Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Sponsored Programs.• Perform and structure study interviews.

• Provided the latest cancer-related information (cancer prevention, risk factors, early detection, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and research) and individualized tobacco cessation counseling to patients, general public and health professionals through telephone and live-chat channels (LiveHelp) via the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Cancer Information Service (CIS).• Interpreted and articulated complex concepts in a conversational manner, for callers of diverse backgrounds, cognitive abilities and emotional states.• Performed tailored clinical trial searches for cancer patients through the NCI clinical trial database.• Exceeded federal quality assurance metrics throughout employment history, highlighted by 94% quality scores for LiveHelp.• Assisted Training Manager with initial training planning (content consolidation, scheduling, lesson planning) in anticipation of contract renewal.• Created and presented a cancer-themed presentation highlighting various aspects of cancer, including treatment, prevention, diagnosis and cancer biology.
