“It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data” (Sherlock Holmes by “A study in Scarlet” of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle). This statement highlights that any idea or theory cannot be considered as reality without data to back it up. The latter is even more important considering both scientific and business frameworks, where data are fundamental to validate achieved outcomes and they are extremely valuable for decision-making processes. I adopted this concept after my 1-year working period as Assistant Industrial Controller at Denso Thermal Systems, and my 6 years of experimental and theoretical research activities at University of Salerno, with a 3-months period spent at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.The role of Assistant Industrial Controller was a natural extension of my Management Engineering master’s degree. I joined a multifunctional team composed of colleagues from the Maintenance and General Services department where I could exploit my analytical and objective-oriented capabilities to identify major losses from the service and energy facilities of the plant by developing the Energy Cost Deployment (WCM).Then, I decided to look for new challenges in the research field, where data plays a role equally important, to increase my analytical and problem-solving capabilities. I had the opportunity to work in an international environment, with colleagues from Spain and Slovenia. I had an important role in opening a new research path for my team about the application of ANNs to refrigeration systems for prediction and optimization. I helped developing a patented control method based on ANNs to reduce energy consumption of refrigeration systems up to 13%. I also developed a hybrid model of an advanced refrigeration system using ANNs, which improved the accuracy of the simulation up to 49%. With proven records of 14 scientific publications as a co-author, I developed good written communication capabilities.Alongside my career experience, I cultivated my interest in music playing the bass guitar in several bands, and, more recently, in fitness activities such as yoga.My passion for retrieving information from data and using them for developing data-driven tools and decision-making processes helped the teams with I worked achieving valuable outcomes. Now, I am eager to support companies to do the same. With a creative and analytical mindset, my problem-solving approach can be a strong transferrable skill to provide innovative out-of-the-box solutions to improve business performance of companies and contribute to their success.
