Sustainable Finance ConsultantThe Phoenix Group Sep 2021 - PresentSanta Clara County, California, United StatesAfter much thought about the present state of the world and the coming climate crisis, I have decided to focus all my professional efforts in those areas where I may make the greatest contributions to creating sustainable solutions to this crisis. For these reasons I now seek positions in sustainable finance: I want to build portfolios designed around ESG principles and the regenerative capitalism concepts discussed extensively by John Fullerton and his colleagues at the Capital Institute. I look forward to working with other like-minded professionals in the Silicon Valley area of California who help individuals and communities evolve through a values-based stewardship of money. Money and intellectual capital used wisely can be generative of sustainable communities when properly aligned with social and human capital.I have more than 25 years of experience as a management consultant specializing in strategy, project management, process analysis, business valuations, and risk analysis. During this time I have written more than 75 client-sponsored studies and three books on strategic planning and complex project implementation, competitive intelligence, and the evaluation of client business plans, products, and services. For ten years I was a licensed securities and life insurance agent in California with the following licenses: Series 7 and Series 66 (securities) and CA Life Insurance # 0F54280 (accident and health, life-only, and variable contracts). I was an ERISA 3(21) fiduciary, and received the PPC® (Professional Plan Consultant®) designation for this from fi360 on October 1, 2015. In December of 2016 I received the RMA® (Retirement Management Analyst®) designation after completing the rigorous course of training certified by the Investments & Wealth Institute. Please don’t hesitate to call me should you wish to discuss this further.Manuel José Espinosa, Sustainable Finance ConsultantC: 1-408-219-6623 E: manuel.espinosa@att.net

Member, Community Leadership Advisory Board Of Scu'S Latinx Education Research CenterSanta Clara University Jan 2019 - Jun 2020Santa Clara, CaliforniaThe Latinx Education Research Center (LERC) builds on a long history of expertise on issues of Latinx education and well-being across Santa Clara University’s School of Education and Counseling Psychology. Our goals are to demonstrate and deepen our ongoing commitment to serve the Latinx communities of Silicon Valley, California, and the United States. Furthermore, our mission is to develop LERC into an intellectual “hub” for faculty and students in the School of Education and Counseling Psychology as well as to other schools and colleges at Santa Clara University. Although the explicit focus in the name of the center will be education, we mean education in its broadest sense, and with the ultimate eye of supporting human flourishing and well-being. Lastly, we aim to bring faculty and students as well as our external partners together to build a network sharing common research interests and a shared commitment to ensuring the well-being of the Latinx community in our region, across California, and beyond. -

Principal ResearcherAmerican Latino Ip Project Aug 2017 - Sep 2018Do you know of any unheralded or forgotten American Latino patent holders? Tell us about them! There is no existing, readily available historical record that provides a comprehensive identification of American Latino inventors. I am a principal in a research project designed to close this gap in the historical record by identifying U.S. citizens of Latino heritage who were awarded patents from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. My research partner and project founder, Tom Tafolla, is a newly appointed Fellow of the Smithsonian Institute’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation. He will devote ten weeks this summer working with other researchers and archivists at the Smithsonian to validate our findings. We will produce a scholarly monograph on the history of American Latino invention and create a bibliographic record of American Latino inventors. We plan to identify as many female American inventors of Latin American or Spanish origin as possible and generate a data set for further study and research by our team and other historians. The earliest patent in the collection of more than 7,000 individual patent specifications was issued in 1848. Our collection includes patents ranging from boat, ship, and airplane design and manufacture to automotive and railroad technologies, from tools and farm equipment to patents for electric power generation, computer design and manufacture, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals. And we found patents in communications, in the phonograph and record industry, and for motion picture equipment.Tom Tafolla began this project in the fall of 2014. We expect to be working on this “labor of love” long after his Lemelson appointment expires. Do you have resources ― archives, technologies, expertise ― that you could contribute to this project? Feel free to contact Manuel Espinosa (1-408-219-6623; manuel.espinosa@att.net) or Tom Tafolla (1-408-881-3598; ttafolla@itu.edu) with your ideas.
