My whole career has grown focused on the Supply Chain area, especially on the design, implementation, management and supervision of several activities, developing a network of Food Retail stores in Portugal, located primarily in urban areas with national coverage, and a high-level of centralization.With a deep knowledge of warehouse operations, reordering processes to suppliers, transport fleet management, store based order systems, warehouse layouts plans, as well as IT systems, I have lead and managed throughout the past years many projects to increase the service levels to stores. As a Board Level Executive, I have also acquired a series of competences which allowed me to develop a deep knowledge of operations and the whole food store business.Although I have become a specialist on what Supply Chain and retail are concerned, my keen knowledge on areas such as Finance and business, operations, commercial, legal and human resources gave a broaden and global perspective of the retail business.Achievements- Design, implementation and monitoring new logistics processes to obtain savings on supply chain- Optimize productivity and efficiency on picking operations and distribution plans- Design and implementation of all Distribution Centers' layout projects, increasing 20% the productivity and improving stack ability issues for damage reduction- Implementation of new technologies, such as Radio Frequency and Voice Picking- Weekly planning and management of store delivery plans (improving out-of-stock ratios in 2%)- New facilities and warehouse building projects and distribution centers expansion- Responsibility of replenishment department- Fleet management control, negotiation with subcontractors and analysis of the most profitable routes and back-hauling processes- Implementation of the Store Based Order systems

Follow-up of KPI such as demand forecasting ratios, level of out-of-stocks and service level of suppliers. Help to handle the communication processes with suppliers, such as EDI projects for the optimization of flow of information throughout the supply chain.Identify the most profitable logistic flows implementing solutions such us full truck load, shared truck in destination, multiple loading (milk-run), macro-group and transfers between group warehouses. Planned actions which resulted in a reduction of the out-of-stocks in the warehouses (improving of 2%).

    In the 2005-06 biennium, the company developed an aggressive plan of new store openings and so to the supply chain could meet the new logistic needs, it was planned the need of a new warehouse in Portugal. During this period, I led the project of a new Distribution Center together with the International Supply Chain Direction of the Group. The early design and dimension was planned according to the company`s strategic plan. I was deeply involved in the several stages of this project, beginning with the early decision of main location (analysis of different location processes for a new logistic site, such a gravity model), budget formulation, layout design, definition of the DC organization chart, negotiation of several logistic equipment such as racking, machinery, monitoring the construction stages, and prepare and draw the processes and procedures of the start-up operation, managing the transfer of stores, equipment and possible HR resources from others warehouses to this new DC. This project resulted in a new warehouse placed near the city of Torres Novas, at the confluence of a high-way network that serves the mainly directions from the center of Portugal, with an area of 25.000 sqm, and responds for the 30% of the volume of distribution of the group in the country.
