My whole career has grown focused on the Supply Chain area, especially on the design, implementation, management and supervision of several activities, developing a network of Food Retail stores in Portugal, located primarily in urban areas with national coverage, and a high-level of centralization.With a deep knowledge of warehouse operations, reordering processes to suppliers, transport fleet management, store based order systems, warehouse layouts plans, as well as IT systems, I have lead and managed throughout the past years many projects to increase the service levels to stores. In the 2005-06 biennium, the company developed an aggressive plan of new store openings and so to the supply chain could meet the new logistic needs, it was planned the need of a new warehouse in Portugal. During this period, I led the project of a new Distribution Center together with the International Supply Chain Direction of the Group. The early design and dimension was planned according to the company`s strategic plan. I was deeply involved in the several stages of this project, beginning with the early decision of main location (analysis of different location processes for a new logistic site, such a gravity model), budget formulation, layout design, definition of the DC organization chart, negotiation of several logistic equipment such as racking, machinery, monitoring the construction stages, and prepare and draw the processes and procedures of the start-up operation, managing the transfer of stores, equipment and possible HR resources from others warehouses to this new DC. This project resulted in a new warehouse placed near the city of Torres Novas, at the confluence of a high-way network that serves the mainly directions from the center of Portugal, with an area of 25.000 sqm, and responds for the 30% of the volume of distribution of the group in the country.
