Manuella is a licensed architect (in Europe and Brazil) specializing in architectural engineering and sustainable development, as well as a project management professional with experience in the fields of design, building technology, sustainable development, construction management and major international sporting events, in several countries such as: Canada, United States, Brazil, Italy, The Netherlands and Portugal.With a well-rounded international education and career, she has worked on projects of various scales, ranging from housing to schools, mixed-use high-rise buildings and stadiums, from design to construction.Recently, her fascination with sustainable and affordable housing has led her to investigate and explore the use of mass-timber in hybrid construction systems combining it with modularity, prefabrication and mass-customization toward building more efficiently and sustainably.Whether working on behalf of high-performance athletes, a single client, or a whole community, her goal is to drive a positive social and environmental impact while being able to create and/or lead projects that would leave an outstanding legacy.Some key projects she has worked on:• Preliminary design contribution to the Google headquarters project in NYC• Design development for school projects in The Netherlands• Design collaboration in state-of-the-art stadia, such as the Milton Velodrome and the Lansdowne Park Stadium in Canada • Games Overlay feasibility study to host the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada• Creation and supervision of the Games Overlay design package for 11 stadia in the East zone of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/ Parapan Am Games in Canada• Site management of the CIBC Pan Am / Parapan Am Aquatics Centre & Field House, monitoring project life-cycle of all games overlay infrastructure from design to installation, followed by deconstruction, site remediation and venue handover• Housing projects and calls for proposals in Europe and Canada, targeted at the development of sustainable and affordable housing using modular construction.• The creation of a modular and hybrid construction system using generative design• Development and construction management of the Alexandra Park revitalization, an award-winning project that aims to create a sustainable and cohesive mixed-income community in the heart of TorontoEnglish, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian languages
