Developed a pro-active advocacy and business development program to bridge opportunities between minority business enterprises (MBE) and historically underutilized business (HUB) with large corporations and area governmental agencies such as the City; Developed a mentor/protégé program for MBEs to increase their chances of success when bidding for contract opportunities Outcome: MBE client was awarded an 8(a) project at NAS Corpus Christi with the assistance and preparation of the mentor support which represented the MBE's largest procurement award in its history of operationsIn association with the Port of Corpus Christi, developed and supervised a small business procurement program to increase bid opportunities with the Port of Corpus Christi, who had a challenge of establishing relationships with small business due to the size of projects typically associated with the Port Initiated a capacity & capability assessment of small businesses that had an interest to do business with the Port Outcome: An increase in bid awards was achieved over a 12 month periodCorpus Christi Minority Business Development Center- Director (funded by the US Dept. of Commerce/MBDA and operated by Grijalva & Allen, P.C.) Named as a Top MBDA Center for 2003Developed & supervised programs and relationships with minority owned businesses, corporations, and governmental entities for business development opportunities and procurement Supervised & provided consultation and technical assistance to minority-owned firms for business plans, loan packages, marketing plans, and procurement programs to increase their success rates Formed collaborative partnerships with community and external organizations to identify mutual goals to maximize resources and synergiesPromoted federal programs such as 8(a), Hubzone, GSA Schedule, 7(a), Low-Doc, 504, SDB, Veteran programs, CCR, SBA Surety Bonds, On-line tools, and other training events held by strategic partners
