As the Events and Communications Assistant at the Student Association of St. Lawrence College, I feel like I’m wearing five different hats every day. I’m managing people, creating and marketing events, organizing logistics, and even creating promotional materials from scratch. This role has taught me so much about event management and marketing. I’ve learned how to lead teams, handle budgets, and adapt to last-minute changes while keeping a cool head. It’s fast-paced, but I love it. What's my job here? Pretty simple, I convince business owners to advertise on our digital newspaper(aka website.) It’s all about sales, cold-calling, and making sure our clients see the value. Along the way, I’ve become a pro at CRM tools, particularly HubSpot, which I use daily to track leads, manage communications, and close deals. It’s a mix of sales, marketing, and client management that keeps things exciting. Plus, I get to refine my persuasion skills while building great relationships with local businesses. Never a dull moment in ad sales!

This was no ordinary role, organising events for a Downtown was not easy but it was super fun! I organised all of the 4 Princess St. Promenades by communicating with 100+ businesses and community groups, generated many event ideas, solved problems during events, created social media posts and stories, created an SEO strategy for the BIA, created graphics for Movies in the Square and photographed a lot of events! During my time at the BIA, I learned many skills, developed various interests as well as enhanced my existing skills!
