PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCEDeKalb County Schools, Stone Mountain, Georgia (2014 – present)Post – Secondary Transition Specialist- Miller Grove High School*Provide instruction on college and career readiness curriculum to students in eighth through twelfth grade.*Assist school administration with engaging and preparing students for graduation as well as identifying and removing barriers to college and career success.*Analyze national, state, and local district data to identify students with factors impacting academic success and determine individual career pathways.*Increased scholarship monies 350% from $1.7 million in 2014 to $5.95 million in 2016.*Increased school graduation rate over 10% by focusing on forging relationships with technical and community colleges as well as four year universities.*Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents in feeder schools to ensure incoming freshmen successfully adapt to the rigors of the high school experience.*Engage community agencies to provide resources for students transitioning to the work force or college.*Maintain partnerships with local technical colleges for dual enrollment opportunities for students.*Conduct life skill workshops with students on goal setting, organization, conflict management, and job readiness.*Coordinate and schedule college and military recruitment visits to school and ASVAB assessments.*Plan and coordinate school college fair attracting over 40 colleges and universities annually.

As Graduation Coach assisted students in bringing in $1.7 million in scholarship monies during tenure. During that same period was responsible for re-establishing the relationship with Athens Technical College allowing students to earn college/certificate degree level credits. Assisted in the design of the recruitment process to recruit more male teachers into the school district. Created the Summer Bridge Program aiding middle school students with a successful transition into high school. Also served as Assistant Athletic Director responsible for ensuring student athletes are academically eligible.

As a Career Coordinator, assisted students in establishing post-secondary education and career plans. Established Jobs for Georgia Graduates program at Decatur High and since its inception over 97% of “high–risk” students have advanced into two and four year colleges and the military. Program participants received training on professional resume development and interview skills as well as workshops on related topics such as etiquette and professional career wear. In addition, they obtained extensive exposure to individuals in the business and civic community. Also played an integral role in the development of the Career and Technology Education Department’s mission statement as well as provided guidance in student placement in real world work settings. In 2010, 100% of the graduating seniors were accepted into various colleges and universities with over 40% receiving scholarship monies.

During tenure increased intern placement from 40 students to 220 in 3 years. High performing students from across the country were trained and placed in store management internships with Fortune 500 and 100 retailers such as Target, Limitedbrands, Circuit City, Walgreens, May Co. and Abercrombie & Fitch. Worked directly with Executive Management from each of these retailers to ensure each intern was a good fit for their organization. Facilitated workshops on college campuses throughout the United States on careers in retail. Designed and implemented summer training to ensure intern success in the retail field.
