Manvinder Mathadu Email and Phone Number
I have been working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for the past 20 years, leading and running the EAL induction and provision at Lady Margaret Primary School. I am responsible for ensuring new arrivals are given a suitable programme to settle in and are able to access learning. My role involves meeting with families, suggesting resources and activities to help teachers with the new arrivals in their class, monitoring how new arrivals settle in and ensuring new arrivals are able to access learning in the classroom through tailored differentiation. I also run an EAL induction programme for children in KS2. This involves tailored planning, preparing resources, monitoring progress by regularly assessing the children to swiftly address any gaps that may arise. My strong practice has had a positive impact on the children’s progress and their ability to access the full curriculum. One of my strengths is the planning and teaching of phonics. The children in my induction programme are able to learn the sounds from the different phases and this has helped them in speaking, reading and writing in English. I have also created and implemented a bank of EAL resources from Nursery to Year 6 that teachers can use to help their EAL learners access learning in theIr classroom. Additionally, I have created word banks knowledge mats for key subjects and vocabulary sheets for all topics and core texts throughout the school. These sheets are accessible to EAL learners and help them to understand and learn new vocabulary. During my time at Lady Margaret, I have had experience with being involved in the monitoring of EAL provision throughout the school and I have worked closely with the Senior Leadership Team. I have been involved in the process of lesson observations, book scrutiny and sharing feedback of next steps to teachers and Senior Leaders. Additionally, I have run parent workshops, assemblies and training. I have built strong partnerships with external agencies and I have also organised for them to deliver training to staff, parents and children. I am able to speak many languages and this has allowed me to communicate to families in the school community and to make sure they feel heard and to address any concerns they may have. I am extremely committed, hard working and always strive to make sure every child achieves their full potential.

The lessons consist of lots visuals, phonics reinforces and simpler worksheets to aid their learning. This gives the children an opportunity to settle into a routine and gradually become independent learners. -
