Data Engineer
Current● Cleansing and validation of raw data being provided by third parties or inputted by internal staff. ● Collaborated with the head of planning to redesign and improve QA processes for the planning department. ● Rebuild existing Power BI reports to improve UI & UX for end users. This helped improve understanding, readability and usefulness of reports. ● Architected and implemented a new Power BI data model using dataflows. I used dataflows to consolidate data from various sources into one place. ● Established a monthly data blog to improve understanding and share knowledge about how we use data within the organisation. This included such topics as: Industry and organisation standards and upcoming changes. I invited a researcher and statistician to write articles to widen the scope of the blog. ● Review of existing SQL views, including identification and optimisation of inefficient views. ● Introduced internal processes for the creation of Power BI reports, making it quicker and easier for staff to request new reports. This included essential requirements and workshopping to discuss needs as well as a show and tell to demonstrate to users how to use reports. ● Identified issues with existing internal processes of data sharing and worked to improve them. ● Heldrequirements gathering workshops with non-technical staff to understand their data needs, produced power bi reports in line with their requirements and held workshops for the end product to ensure the requirements had been met and end users understood how to get the information they needed.
