My team and I worked with Icarus, a startup company developing thermal energy storage systems in the San Diego area. Solar panels overheat and lose efficiency so our job was to design a system to cool down the chosen refrigerant that would be removing heat from the solar panels and finding a way to extract and harness the heat, as well as keep the refrigerant running and consistently cooling down the panels throughout the day. We used prototyping and ideation methods when brainstorming the design and proceeded with data analysis and mock up design. (Course for a capstone team project to create a model or simulation for Environmental Engineering application)
