Manzi Mbaya is a dancer, choreographer and creative director from Kigali, Rwanda.Manzi has been dancing for over 17 years. Starting with choreographing the influentialfilm “Neptune Frost”, directed by US artist Saul Williams in 2020, his career as a dancerand as a choreographer took a professional turn.In 2021 Manzi Mbaya choreographed the theatre piece "In a Women's Shoes", which wassubsequently performed internationally, including in Kigali, Rwanda and São Paulo, Brazil.Last year in 2023, he teamed up with Global Citizen for a collaborative dance video toopen Kendrick Lamar's concert in Kigali on December 6th.His teaching styles include Afrobeats, Afrohouse & HipHop. Throughout his dance career,Manzi has done professional training in Urban, Contemporary and Traditional Dance atEcole de sable in toubab dialaw Senegal.Manzis artistic ways have always been shaped and driven by socially relevant topics.Growing up in Nyamirambo, a muslim neighbourhood, he has been passionate tostrengthen his community and to make the value of art apparent.He has worked with artists and professional choreographers around the world in variousproductions and workshops.As a dancer and choreographer, he has an effective way of communication; leadership;resilience; self-discipline; capacity for feedback; attention to details; integrity; flexibility;sense of community; mental endurance; critical thinking; sense of balance andcoordination; etc.
