I don't have a job. I have passions that I happen to get paid for. I only do one thing - I enable people to change their world. I do this through the businesses I've founded and invested in, through the students I've taught and mentored, the organizations which I volunteer at, and through my public speaking. To date, I've developed 5 policies for the Philippine government, assisted in the drafting of 5 bills (one of them became the Technology Transfer Act of 2009), facilitated over $3.5M in biotech investments, trained over 17,000 aspiring entrepreneurs, and created 3,500 jobs in the poorest parts of the Philippines.I'm a startup junkie who believes in relentless execution and the greatness of the Filipino people. You might think it's natural for everyone to love the country of their birth, but that's not always the case in the Philippines. Colonial mentality and a lack of role models who walk the proverbial talk have made most Filipinos jaded. I think all of them are wrong, because the grass is greener where you water it. I've put my time and money where my mouth is.After 15 years of high-velocity decisive business leadership and catalyzing the cacophony of the Philippine innovation ecosystem, I've co-founded Ignite Impact. Ignite is the first impact investment fund focused exclusively on eradicating poverty in the Philippines by 2033. As General Partner, I bring a wealth of experience in building and leading multiple high-performing teams, achieving results through innovation, leveraging stakeholder relationships, and generally being the audacious, subversive, pioneering force for real change.I'm also a teacher, specializing in grad-school level innovation and entrepreneurship. My academic research interests are national innovation systems and entrepreneurial ecosystems in Southeast Asia.I'm going to make a difference by being the difference. Reach out if you want to be part of that, or if you're looking for a speaker who's delivered game-changing impact.
