I come from a background where my family owned and operated a poultry farm business and my father taught me many life lessons about getting ahead and working hard. Hence my work ethic today. Ledikana was established out of a love for my mother, whom the village called, Ledikana. She loved beautiful things, including fashion and hats. She used to love polka dots on clothes and to honour her memory, we chose a logo with polka dots. My passion for this business started when I went to my Aunt’s funeral in Limpopo. Everyone admired the hat I was wearing, so I decided to take orders and the next minute I had sold 10 hats. The rest is history and I haven’t looked back since.We are manufacturers of contemporary African clothing and accessories and we sell ready to wear garments for locals and tourists. We have a shop at O R Tambo International Airport and another in Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. I hated having to look for an outfit every time there was an occasion, so I saw the gap and took it celebrating the African culture by making a range of ready to wear contemporary African clothing for potential customer’s. I loved it and that’s how Ledikana came to be. As an entrepreneur it can be difficult to get a bank loan, so I financed my entire operation out of my savings never thinking for one second that I would fail. I am so grateful for the lessons my father has taught me about business.I am also proud of the fact that I am a JSE Approved Executive consulting for Dea-ru Sponsor Services Pty Ltd. I advise listed and unlisted companies on Corporate Governance and the JSE Listings Requirements. From humble beginnings where we really had to work hard to achieve what we wanted, I did exactly as my father taught me and the rest speaks for itself. We manufacture and supply contemporary ready to wear African clothing, accessories and ready to wear garments for locals and tourists. I like to empower my employees and I use the skills of women across South Africa who are mostly sole breadwinners and pensioners from the rural areas of Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Limpopo and Gauteng. I like involving my employees in my business by giving them roles that will empower them. Recently we launched a new range called Babina Noko which is inspired by the Bapedi Culture. This is a range of colourful blankets, cosmetic bags and corporate gifts. We have a following that is growing in the corporate arena, beauty industry and hospitality industry
