I led the Benefit Service for Birmingham City Council, by far the largest in England and Wales. Responsible for a budget in excess of £16m per annum, managing over 250 staff and the assessment and payment of local authority benefits to approximately 150,000 customers totalling over £560m per annum.

Whilst my current remit lies primarily within the specialist area of a benefits administration, my experience extends into the Revenues field in terms of both Council Tax and Business Rates billing and collection. I have held positions within the Revenues Division in Birmingham primarily around enforcement and collection, most significantly in the Business Rates arena where I was responsible for a significant portfolio for the largest local authority in the UK including the Birmingham NHS Trust.
