I have over 30 years in the mapping/graphics industry producing both digital and print outputs for a wide variety of requirements.I started work at The Economist Newspaper in London as an information graphics artist and then worked in the graphics industry in London and in Devon. In 1992 I started work at Harper Collins Publishers in Scotland as a Senior Cartographer working on Bartholomew (Times Books, Collins, Nicholson) covering country mapping, continental mapping, world atlases and custom mapping.In September 2003 I moved to Brisbane, Australia to work for Hema Maps mainly working on custom mapping moving to the role of Production Manager in 2005 before a title change to Cartographic Director. I was involved in all aspects of mapping including data collection in the field with DGPS (incl. fieldwork on Fraser Island and High Country Victoria), sales runs to The Pilbara & The Kimberley and managing a team of GIS professionals, cartographers, graphic designers, editors, project leaders and researchers.My position as Cartographic Director at Hema Maps had me responsible for the cartographic integrity, quality and future innovation of Hema Maps Cartography.In August 2013 after a short time with Apple in California I set up 'mapuccino' offering cartographic services for a wide range of national and international clients.I have a wide range of skills and experience and I'm extremely dedicated and committed to my work.In April 2018 I also took up ownership with my wife Gillian of a Custom Framing & Art Supplies business in Maleny that we've called James Frames ..now I can get all my maps professionally framed as well :o)
