As a documentary photographer, I am interested in moments that are un-mistakenly human, those universal emotions we can all relate with. I observe life unfolding and use the camera to capture that which is easily felt but difficult to portray: the aliveness of the human spirit.My work relates to the human condition and addresses universal themes like food, family, place, work, transportation, and cultural traditions. Visual storytelling is what I’m all about. When I was ten years old I got my first camera as a gift from my grandmother. At the first roll of film, I knew there was no going back. I have been photographing ever since. My undergrad work is in photography and cultural anthropology and my MFA is in artistic production and research. In 2023 I celebrated my 23rd year as a professional photographer.I have carried out community-focused and commercial projects in my chosen home California and in my native Brazil, as well as in Sri Lanka, Italy, and Spain. I work with still photography and video. For the past ten years I have been developing public art projects in California funded by city and state wide grants. I taught college photography and teach workshops periodically.I strive to tell visual stories from an intimate point of view. My intention in displaying such imagery in the public realm is to anchor the viewer to some of the fundamental elements that all humans share, and, as such, bring about a sense of connection, kindness, and joy.It is a pleasure to collaborate with clients to transform the seedlings of their vision into compelling works of visual art, whether in the fine art or commercial realm.
