Against all odds, I survived a life-threatening event involving grievous bodily harm, I founded TEARS, an organisation that provides a support network for victims of rape and abuse. My aim is to enable victims of rape and sexual abuse to find the assistance, comfort and compassion they need when faced with a similar situation. I am passionate about women’s rights and the fact that women have very little to no protection, despite our progressive laws and studies in South Africa. My aim is to create innovative ways of educating and assisting our society when it comes to rape. I have been a crusader for social issues over the past five decades and have been the driving force and facilitator behind numerous development conventions and training initiatives to change the perception of the community and public in general around rape and abuse. I am constantly striving to educate the public on social abuses and work tirelessly to source funding to help the survivors of these crimes.TEARS projects consist of the following pro-active and re-active solutions.♥️ Help at your Fingertips assists victims of rape and abuse to find service providers using an SMS which provides each victim with 3 service providers within their immediate vicinity upon whom they may contact for help or assistance. In 1982 amongst others, the projects that I ran was developing the first awards programme for the BMF (Black Management Forum), Excellence & Achievements Awards. The first winner was, Connie Nkosi who is now a Director at Pick ‘n Pay. I am proud to advise BMF is still running the project.A founder member of BWA (Businesswomen’s Association of SA) with amongst others, Pam Golding, Elaine Strydom, Bridget Van Holdt, Johanna McDowell and Madi Hanekom. My innovations have won numerous awards. Our work is paving the way for innovative approaches to treating trauma, igniting shifts in the way the public views and responds to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse.

FounderTears Foundation Jan 2012 - PresentSandtonMy vision is to see an end to rape and abuse against women in South Africa regardless of their gender, race, creed or socio-economic status. I am passionate about my service to others especially women who are victims of rape or abuse. I have developed many training initiatives and applications to assist women who have been the victims of GBH. My crusade to assist these women has taken me through five decades of dedication and compassion, selflessness and caring directed towards all women from all walks of life who have suffered traumas at the hands of their abusers.I believe in transforming and restoring dignity to victims of sexual violence and rape in South Africa and my aim is to continue to reduce incidences of this kind of abuse through community-wide gender-based violence prevention services, national community level advocacy to strengthen the criminal justice system and through a 24-hour support helpline platform for victims of sexual violence and other forms of abuse.I believe in transforming and restoring dignity to victims of sexual violence and rape in South Africa and my aim is to continue to reduce incidences of this kind of abuse through community-wide gender-based violence prevention services, national community-level advocacy to strengthen the criminal justice system and through a 24-hour support helpline platform for victims of sexual violence and other forms of abuse.
