I worked with Portage and Befriending service as part of The Children's Society charity to support families in need of a Volunteer Befriender to encourage children with Special Educational Needs to complete everyday tasks without support from a family member. This included: home visits and liaising with two different families; spending time building relationships with children with SEN; supporting children in planning trips involving everyday routines such as using local transport, ordering food at cafes and taking part in hobbies of their choice. I supported one child with Global Development Delay and another with Downs Syndrome.
