Mara Burr has a wealth of experience in government, private sector and with non-profit organizations with almost three decades of experience in international, federal and state regulatory affairs, international trade, global public health law and regulation, economic stabilization in conflict zones, foreign policy and international relations, national security, environment, conservation, customs/customs classification and investment issues, she is a well respected leader in global policy issues and a trusted advisor to senior leaders, government officials and stakeholders.She held senior leadership positions in the Department of Health and Human Services, the Food & Drug Administration, a Senior Advisor to USAID economic development program and as Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, where she negotiated and implemented trade and investment agreements and policies with countries in South and Central Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, with a focus on environmental and economic stabilization issues. She teaches international negotiations law as an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center. She holds an LL.M from Georgetown University Law Center, a JD from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and a BA in Political Science from the University of St. Thomas.During federal career, she received many high-level awards from the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, the United States Trade Representative, the Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration, the Department of State, Georgetown University Law Center, Hamline University School of Law, and Mitchell Hamline Law School.
