I am a graduate of University of Houston College of Optometry where I earned my doctorate in Optometry. I am graduate of Tarleton State University where I majored in Biomedical Science and minored in Chemistry. I am passionate about improving quality of life through excellent patient care especially for underprivileged populations.While at Tarleton I stayed active in several academic and service related organizations.The organization I was most heavily involved in at Tarleton was Alpha Epsilon Delta, a pre-professional health-care society that focuses on service. Through AED, I spent time volunteering in various places like the Science Olympiad. All-Stars is another program I volunteered at through AED that pairs students and handicapable children to help them play sports. However, I spent most of my time tutoring other students at my job in Tarleton's "Science Clinic." I have also instructed a general chemistry lab, and was a TA for general chemistry I, II, and organic chemistry I labs. My long term goal is to become a practicing optometrist in a small town that otherwise would have little access to healthcare like optometry. It's said the eye is the window to the soul, but it's definitely our window to the rest of the world. Vision is important, and an optometrist can both improve vision and prevent blindness. Improving the quality of life for people is what I hope to achieve through optometry.

By assisting in the capture and examination of various species of snakes found in Erath county, I was involved in a new county record of the sighting/capture of Agkistrodon contortrix, a copperhead. The finding was published in a herpetology review. As part of this research I was also required to perform data entry of more snake population information. I assisted also in the collection of tissue from snakes for RNA sequencing.
