Promising Futures is a labor of love I co-founded to engage youth in their own development. I have branded it as a youth development pipeline by: -securing grant funds -training and supervising talent-developing partnerships -managing, designing and evaluating program curriculumI am very well connected to the youth serving agencies in the city (and have served as one of the approved practicum site supervisors for the MPH students at GW who want to serve youth for the last nine years).

The GW School of Business trains first year business students in a service-learning project to lead a social entrepreneurship program for DC youth. As the Assistant Director, I am charged with establishing and maintaining sustainable partnerships with schools, CBOs, and nonprofits to engage youth in starting, operating and owning their own business- a lemonade stand- through an experiential curriculum and culminating citywide event. dc.lemonadeday.org

I am a part-time teacher and contracted program assistant. In this capacity, I develop and teach curriculum that contributes to the school's wellness policy (and school-wide culture). The academic curriculum is extended through the Peer Education Program that I founded and currently direct. I also maintain relationships- through ongoing support- with our middle school graduates as they transition into high school, college, and the workforce.

-I managed the six health education programs of the Adolescent Health Center that I coined as the Adolescent Prevention Education Programs (APEP). In this capacity, I secured and managed grants/contracts, human capital, marketing/communication, partnerships, and developed and evaluated curriculum/programs.I presented our work and models to national and local audiences.-I am co-author on one of APEP's copyrighted curriculum. I am also a certified trainer of three CDC evidence based curriculum models that address adolescent risk behavior and/or youth development outcomes.

-I coordinated the service-learning program for all first year medical students. In that capacity, I identified and secured community sites for meaningful projects, designed service learning objectives, designed and led service learning trainings for department faculty and hosted our annual service learning presentations.-I also ensured the curriculum and model reflected relevant research and presented our work at national and international meetings.-Our service learning model was recognized internationally for its critical pedagogy. I traveled to Singapore to present our service learning model to a global audience of faculty and students committed to service-learning. I co-authored a chapter on this service-learning model in a book published by the organizing body of this international meeting.
