Her Ph.D. is in Sociology from The University of Chicago. Mara is an author. Also, she serves on the Board of Marin General Hospital, was twice Board Chair of Canal Alliance, in San Rafael, CA, and served on may other non-profit boards. Mara Perez is fluent in Spanish, and has worked as consultant for over 90 organizations. She has lectured and given presentations on the subjects of immigration, fund development, and philanthropy in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the U.S.
