About Mara S.

I am a third-year Ph.D. student in Physics with a background in engineering, particularly in medical device R&D. My research focuses on the physical properties of magnetotactic bacteria and artificial microswimmers. Using Particle Image Velocimetry, I measure flow fields around micron-sized objects, as well as cultivate and study properties of magnetic bacteria cells. One of the highlights of my scientific adventure was leading the expedition to discover and characterize the first magnetotactic bacteria in Latvia. Currently, I am deeply engaged in the detailed characterization process, with a publication pending.
