Mechanical Design Engineer - Project Team Leader
Current- Concept to production rugged keyboards, trackballs, key switches. These products range from sheet metal, machined parts, and plastics. Responsible for all phases of design, concept to production. Cortron is a custom house which produces HMI (Human Machine Interface) products.- Designed a new Trackball for the Trackball line. The 660 is a 2.50 inch trackball that is completely waterproof and ruggedized. It is built for the military and able to be used under extreme conditions.- Responsible for designing many ruggedized keyboards. All keyboards are designed to be waterproof and work under extreme conditions. All products were custom made to customer specs.- Designed Cortron’s first Rackmount unit. This unit is a Navy Trainer that is being used for tracking sonar. It bolts to the deck and is ruggedized to handle extreme conditions. It is also Earthquake 4 qualified.- Improving and advancing existing products through continued engineering. Interfacing directly with clients to expand requirements and working with manufacturing to ensure quality throughout development. For example, a customer requested an upgraded backlit wrist rest for their keyboard that could be written on with a grease pencil. I identified a material that could be illuminated with NVIS, written on with a grease pencil, and wiped clean with ease. After purchasing the material, I created a prototype, tested it, and delivered the solution that met all client requirements. - Responsible for maintaining EMK documentation. EMK’s are the Marketing Drawings and specs that sales use to sell Cortron products. These drawings contain 3D images as well as design specs for customers. All Cad work completed with Solidworks.- Responsible for ECO documentation.
