Started as Product development engineer and progressed to CTO, in that time I oversaw the growth of the team to 9 full time engineers. Wore many hats while leading several products from idea to mass manufacturing including: • Leading the systems engineering and setting the engineering strategy • Leading the product development and project management of the first gen (AXIS Gear) and second gen (RYSE SmartShades) products • Directly contributing to the technical work in: R&D, prototyping, PCB schematic and layout, firmware development, plastics design, motor and gearbox design, fixture development, manufacturing oversight, product certification, automated testing and product refurbishment • Oversaw successful product certification in IoT ecosystems: Zigbee HA, Control4, SmartThings, Google Home, Alexa and HomeKit • Oversaw the design and development of a complete Cloud IoT solution built on AWSContributed to the company’s achievement of major milestones, including: • AXIS Gear winning CES motorized product of the year • Successfully funding AXIS Gear on Indiegogo, as well as raising on Dragon’s Den and through multiple angel and institutional investors • Selling over 40K units to date • The product being granted 3 utility patents and 1 design patent • Successfully funding RYSE SmartShade on Kickstarter • RYSE being awarded a 3.7MM CAD grant from Gov of Canada’s SDTC fund to conduct a pilot project in several commercial buildings
