Avionics TechnicianRoyal New Zealand Air Force 2006 - Nov 2014Auckland, New ZealandThe range of tasks I was responsible for as an Avionics Technician in the RNZAF were incredibly varied. I have worked on both the P-3K Orion Aircraft and also in the Avionics Bay, servicing and maintaining delicate electronic components, including sensitive and servo-encoding altimeters, attitude indicators, airspeed Indicators, radar components, generators, communication and navigation radios, compass systems, inertial and GPS, and many more. Most of my Air Force career has been spent servicing and maintaining the Orion’s electrical flight and military systems which assist with aircraft navigation, safety and operations. As a Corporal in the RNZAF I was responsible for supervising Avionic Technicians and Avionic Mechanics of lesser rank. I offered advice and oversaw their work on aircraft, and on SAP. I used a variety of SAP transactions daily and made sure all paperwork was up-to-date to prevent an aircraft or part becoming unserviceable on the basis of error. I also used SRM often for ordering items for our workplace. -
